Book Cover Designer

Below You’ll Find Chris’ Approach to Designing the Book Cover in His Own Words…
After pondering which direction to go, in the end I felt that having Hana’s eye as the focal point, with the wide open expression of witnessing horrific things, captures the feeling and essence of all of the twisted stories in one image. I like the idea of not revealing too much on the cover, just enough to intrigue. As for the cathedral aspect, I used radial cathedral window elements evoking that shape-shifting/kaleidoscope feeling I got when reading it.. so a more abstracted approach vs. using a literal cathedral. And of course Hana’s eye being the described ocean blue.. with reflections of windows in the iris.
The cover lettering is a manipulated gothic font for the ‘Early Mourning’ header, and a nice classic font with subtle gothic characteristics for subtext and spine. Another subtle design detail was to have part of the ‘E’ being an upside down scythe shape.. the same position Karma would have his scythe as it drags across the floor.

Radiofire
Sondra has also written lyrics for the Norwegian synth-pop band Radiofire…
Making homage to the ‘80s, Radiofire’s music brings a new form of nostalgia to modern listeners. Their bright instrumentals and catchy choruses will make you want to tap the replay button.
Radiofire started as a high school alt-rock band in Volda, Norway, and soon became a household name in the region. They switched genres to pop when they began experimenting with a mix of strings and synths. Their first single, “All I Want,” has amassed over 28,000 listeners so far. Their corresponding single, “City Lights,” has also been garnering considerable attention.
Featuring Paal Rørvik Wilhelm on vocals and guitar, Magnus Andersen on keys/synth, Reidar Rauland Johansen on bass, and Anders Tjøme Hagen on drums, Radiofire supplies a wistful mix of new wave sounds, danceable instrumentals, and memorable vocals.
